The Dermablend Difference

Do you actually know how safe your makeup is for your skin? Unless you’re the type that does your own homework, probably not. (But if you are, good for you!) Since we all have enough to think about, wouldn’t it be nice to know for sure that the makeup you choose is formulated with your skin’s health and coverage in mind?

This is the foundation (no pun intended) that Dermablend was built on when created by dermatologist Dr. Craig Roberts and his wife, renowned makeup artist Flori Roberts, in 1981. Frustrated by the limitations of available products, this dynamic duo was determined to bridge the gap between makeup and dermatology for every skin type, tone and condition—and provide safe, instant coverage for patients. Dermablend always has and always will offer the power of choice, giving users an easy-to-use option to safely and effectively “conceal while they heal” without compromising their skin.

The Dermablend Difference
Today, Dermablend is the #1 dermatologist-recommended coverage brand, as well as the go-to for professional makeup artists who want an array of coverage and finish options along with long-lasting wear for every client who sits in their chair. For the everyday makeup wearer, this means not having to worry that your complexion-perfecting products are going to interfere with your skin’s health. (This also eliminates the need to search for a brand’s “acne-safe,” “rosacea-friendly” or “camouflage” offerings while shopping—because all of Dermablend’s products offer these benefits.)

Safety first

Dermablend adheres to a stringent set of Skin Security Standards that applies to each and every one of our products. Divided into Dermatologist Standards and Formula Standards, here’s what these guidelines mean for you. Dermatologist Standards: Every Dermablend product is dermatologist-tested for safety, sensitive skin-tested, allergy-tested and non-comedogenic (which means it won’t clog pores). Whether you’re dealing with acne, scars, rosacea, vitiligo, sensitivity or are recovering from a professional treatment, you can rest assured that our products have your skin covered. Formula Standards: Product ingredients and formulas are getting a lot of extra attention these days—and ours are developed to be free of anything questionable without sacrificing performance. In addition to being PETA-certified cruelty-free, our vegan-friendly makeup is free of potentially irritating or harmful ingredients like parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, fragrance, triclosan and phthalates.

Safe, high-performance pigments

Any foundation or concealer relies on pigments to provide complexion coverage, whether you’re looking to conceal acne, discoloration, redness, other skin imperfections or tattoos. Dermablend’s products feature high-performance pigments derived from iron oxides, which are naturally-derived mineral deposits that are widely regarded as safe and non-toxic. Resistant to moisture, smearing and fading, these pigments provide lasting coverage that stays true to tone. While most foundations are comprised of four pigments (white, black, yellow and red), Dermablend uses a fifth ultra-marine pigment that allows us to expand our shade offerings to even the deepest of skin tones without a chalky or ashy finish.

The Dermablend Difference
Pro tip: Dermablend reveals the percentage of pigment in each product to indicate its level of coverage. For example, Cover Care Full Coverage Concealer has a 30% concentration that provides one-coat, transfer-resistant coverage for acne, dark circles, discoloration and birthmarks—while our Flawless Creator™ Lightweight Foundation’s minimal-ingredient formulation features 33% high-performance pigment for weightless, full coverage. Our Cover Creme contains 40% pigment in a creamy, hydrating formula that supports the skin barrier while covering anything from acne to vitiligo (and everything in between).

The bottom line

When you choose Dermablend, you can be sure that every product is safe for your skin and designed with your skin’s optimal health in mind. All you have to do is focus on your desired finish, coverage or formulation type—and let us do the rest.
